Mrs. Mattie J. Powell, 67, one of the most beloved women of Plant City, and a resident of the Valley for 19 years, died at the Valley Hospital Wednesday, June 3. She had been in ill health for the past four years.

Services were conducted from the Lanett Primitive Baptist church, Elders C. L. Waldrup and W. Y. Jordan, officiating.

Mrs. Powell, the wife of Elddr L. Powell, was born in Chambers county, April 29, 1875. She was a consecrated memember of the primitive Baptist Church, a woman whose unselfish nature and strong Christian character endeared her to a host of friends who now mourn her loss and sympathize deeply with the bereft husband and other loved ones.

She is survived by six sons, one grandchild, one sister,and seven brothers.

Burial was in Lanett cemetery, conducted by Johnson and Blakely.
