Rites Tomorrow for Woman Pioneer
Mrs. Anna T. Spring dies Here at 76; Widow of Supreme Court Judge.

Services for Mrs. Anna Tarbell Spring,76, pioneer resident and wife of the late Supreme Court Justice Alfred Spring, who died Sunday, will be held at her home, 35 South Main Street, Franklinville, at 2 o'clock tomorrow afternoon.

The Rev. Ira Livingston, of Franklinville Prsebyterian Church will officiate.

Mrs. Spring was born in Farmersville in 1857. Her parents were of old colonial lineage.

She was educated at the Ten Broeck Academy in Franklinville and while there she met and married Mr. Spring, a young attorney. After his elevation to the Sumpreme Court bench she spent much for her time in Buffalo and Rochester. After the death of her husband 21 years ago, she made her home in Franklinville and spent several months each year with her daughter, Mrs. John H. Evans of 519 Franklin Street, at whose she died.

Mrs Spring was actively interested in affairs of the Franklinville Presbyterian Church and of the Daughters of the American Revolution (D.A.R.). She was the mother of late Dana Levi Spring, Buffalo attorney. She is also survived by two daughters: Mrs. John H. Evans of Buffalo & Mrs Edward Ralph Case of East Aurora and six grandchildren.

(Notes): Anna Abigail Tarbell was born on march 16, 1857 in Farmersville, NY to Dana Ordillus Tarbell(1822-1896)& his wife Frances Maria Wilder(1831-1899). The first Tarbell's came to Rushford, Allegheny County, NY in 1816. This was her Great Grandfather's sister Jerusha Tarbell that had married James Gordon. Her Grandfather Jame & his brother Abel Tarbell were natives of Mason,New Hampshire & Cavendish, Vermont had come to Rushford in 1820 with OXEN Team and their cash capital was 12 1/2 cents, which equaled an old fashioned shilling. Anna's family had been here in Rushford, Franklinville, Farmersville, Olean, Buffalo for many generations & had originally had come from Cavendish, Vermont.

Anna's lineage goes back to the Mayflower to the Pilgrim's William White, wife Susanna, & their child Resolve. Resove's brother Peregrine White was the famous " first child in America"

Anna's lineage had at least 6 Revolutionary War Veterans, of which Anna had been excepted to DAR by two Revolutionary War Veterans. Their names were: Lt. Leonard Proctor(1734-1827)of Vermont and Pvt. Gideon Walker(1737-1800) both of Vermont. Since then I found, Pvt. Charles Wilder(1757-1838)of Farmersville, Lt. Leonard Spaulding(1728-1788) of Vermont, & capt. Thomas T. Tarbell of Cavendish,Vermont, and Pvt. Daniel Cowels(1722-1801) of Norfolk, Connecticut.

Anna's father was a wealthy farmer Dana Ordillus Tarbell(1822-1896),whose father had fought in the War of 1812. Anna loved life & loved her grandchildren.
