WALLINGFORD -- Adriano Abreu, 57, of Pierson Drive, died Saturday, Feb. 9, 2002, at St. Mary's Hospital in Waterbury. He was the beloved husband of Deolinda Gonsalves Abreu.
Born in Madeira Island, Portugal, May 11, 1944, he was a son of the late Manuel and Julia Jesus Abreu and had been a Wallingford resident for many years. He was employed by the Allegheny Ludlum Steel Corp. for over 20 years until his retirement. He was previously employed by the International Silver Co. He was a member of the Portuguese American Club of Wallingford, the Club Madeirense S.S. Sacramento, Inc. of New Bedford, Mass. and was a parishioner of Our Lady of Fatima Church in Yalesville.
Besides his beloved wife, Deolinda, he is survived by his son, Ricki Abreu; and his three daughters, Delia Abreu, Linda Abreu, and Jessica Abreu, all of Wallingford; his sister, Julia Gonsalves of Caracas, Venezuela; his four brothers, Victor Abreu and Juan Abreu, both of Venezuela, Fernando Abreu of New Bedford, Mass, and Jose Abreu of Deltona, Fla.; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by three sisters, Encarnacion, Augustina I and Augustina II; and two brothers, Clement and Justino.
His family will received relatives and friends in the Wallingford Funeral Home, 809 N. Main St. Ext., Wallingford, Tuesday from 4 to 8 p.m. Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 9:30 a.m. from the Wallingford Funeral Home, when the funeral cortege will proceed to Our Lady of Fatima Church, where a Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Interment will be in St. John Cemetery in Wallingford. In lieu of flowers, gifts in his memory may be sent to the Abreu Children's Education Fund, c/o Hudson United Bank, 7 N. Turnpike Road, Wallingford, CT 06492.
