Born to William Samuel Marley (1880-1939) & Florence Ann Christopher Marley (1883-1965).

Ruby married John Buck Doran (1911-1979) on May 25, 1935.

Three children:

Ruby Marley Doran, age 86, died Friday, June 26 at the Sierra Vista Hospital in Truth or Consequences, New Mexico.

Ruby was born to William Samuel Marley and Florence Ann Christopher on November 27, 1911, in Texas. She married J. Buck Doran and they both became educators in New Mexico. Ruby's 40 year career included classroom teacher, principal county superintendent and member of the New Mexico State Board of Education. She continually strived to improve the lives of others through education. She helped all her children and most of her grandchildren complete college educations. She encouraged many of her students to attain advanced education scholarships.

Ruby was generous with her time and resources in the Chamiza Cowbelles, the Sierra Vista Hospital Auxiliary, the Order of Eastern Star and as a member of the First United Methodist Church. Ruby was a dedicated wife, mother, teacher and neighbor.

She is survived by her two sons, Ursel Doran of Vancouver, Canada, and Kit Doran of Australia; her nine grandchildren, Kim Dunlap of Las Cruces, NM, Mark Dunlap of South Carolina, John Dunlap of Gallup, Margaret Barklind of Washington, Kristin Koch of Michigan, Carolee Dewars of Colorado, Monte Doran of Michigan, Chris Doran of Vancouver, Bradley Doran of Vancouver, as well as nine great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, J. Buck Doran, in 1979 and by her daughter, Ouida Margaret Dunlap, in 1986.

Services will be held on Monday, June 29, 1998 at 9 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church in T or C, NM with Rev. Guy Pearce and Rev. Rich Forthman officiating. Interment will follow in the Vista Memory Gardens Cemetery. Memorial donations may be sent to the Friends of Eastern Foundation for the Ouida Doran Dunlap Scholarship at DEV-Station #8, ENMU, Portales, New Mexico 88130. Arrangements are by French Mortuary.
