Catherine M. Riser, 88, of 106 N. Second St., McSherrystown, died Saturday, Aug. 30, in Brethren Home, New Oxford.
Born May 4, 1909 i Adams County, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Mary Timmins Ackerman. She was predeceased by her husband, John W. Riser Sr., in 1967.
She was a member of Annunciation Catholic Church, McSherrystown, Forget-Me-Nots, McSherrystown Senior Center and Centennial Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary.
She was retired fron the former Sylvania Shoe Co., McSherrystown.
She is survived b four sons,Melvin J. Riser of Hanover, John W. Riser Jr., and James T. Riser, both of McSherrystown, and Robert L. Riser of New Oxford; four daughters, Mary Allison of Spring Grove, Donna Merrifield of Hanover, Rita Wagaman of Gettysburg and Barbara Pate of McSherrystown, 31 grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; 33 great grandchildren and two step great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, Sept. 3, meeting at 8:30 a.m. at Hicks Funeral Home, McSherrystown to go to a 9 o'clock Mass of Christian Burial in Annunciation Catholic Church, with her pastor, the Rev. Andre J. Meluskey, officiating. Interment will be in the parish cemetery.
Serving as pallbearers will be her grandsons, Shawn Riser, Rick Riser, Joe Riser, Melvin Riser, Kevin Riser, Dave Riser, Thomas Allison, Jeff Merrifield, Allen Zartman, Craig Wagaman and Duane Oaster.
