A son of the late William and Mary Groft Ackerman, he was a memner of the Church of the Annunciation of the Blessed Virgin Mary and the McSherrystown Home Association. His wife Mrs. Margaret M. Timmins Ackerman, died in 1935.
Surviving are three children, Mrs. Riser, with whom he resided; Paul Ackerman, Baltimore, and Mrs. James Long, McSherrystown; 14 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren and a brother, William Ackerman, New Oxford.
Funeral services will be held Saturday at 8:30 a.m. with prayer at the Walter Funeral Home, McSherrystown, followed by a requiem Mass at 9 a.m. in the Annunciation Church. His pastor, Rt. Rev. Msgr. Patrick F. McGee, will be celebrant. Interment will be in the parish cemetery.
