Irene E. Janke, age 93, of Elm Mott, passed away late Tuesday afternoon, July 16, 2019 at Providence Hospice Place in Waco.

Funeral Services will be held 12 noon Saturday, July 20, 2019 at Aderhold Funeral Home Chapel in West, with Rev. Jeff Richter officiating. Private interment will take place at Gerald Cemetery.

Irene was born December 11, 1925 in Gerald, the ninth of ten children to John and Emma (Heine) Lander. She attended the old Gerald School, Leroy Elementary and West High School. On November 29, 1947 she was united in marriage to Louis Janke in Gerald. Louis preceded her in death on October 26, 1982. She was a lifelong member of St. Paul's United Church of Christ in Gerald. Irene worked for Central Freight Lines in Waco for several years. She enjoyed reading, sewing, gardening and doing needle work.

Irene is also preceded in death by her parents; seven brothers, Ernest, Otto, Felix, Alvin, Herman, Herbert, and Julius Lander; and two sisters, Lydia Schuetz and Marie Bates.

Survivors include many nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews; and other relatives and friends.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Gerald Cemetery Association.
