༻✿ Leon Loe was was born June 19, 1897 in Yellow Springs, Ohio, and was the son of John William and Caroline "Lina" Hock Loe. In 1936 Leon Loe married Meriel Anna Powell and they settled together in Springfield, Ohio. They had no children.
Gr-Uncle Leon worked for a small company located in Springfield, Ohio which made cabinets and woodwork for new houses. He was a quiet and gentle man who was an immaculate dresser. He always carried a watch and chain tucked into the pocket of his vest. I can still remember him taking out his watch, looking at it, winding it up, and then tucking it back safely into his vest pocket again. Gr-Uncle Leon loved cigars and always carried them in his jacket pocket. After our meal we would all settle into the living room where he and dad would enjoy a cigar while everyone talked. He always offered my dad a cigar and it was one of the few times I would see my dad smoking a cigar. To this day I love the scent of cigars as it always brings back memories of this good and kind man.
My mom recalls when she was little Uncle Leon drove a green Ford coupe with a rumble seat. She and her brother Jack and sister Joanne loved going for rides in the rumble seat no matter what the weather was like outside.
Gr-Uncle Leon out lived his first wife Meriel, and later remarried a woman by the first name of Lucille. She passed away after Leon. He passed away at the age of 89 from old age. When he passed away we were sad this good and kind man was no longer with us.
May Uncle Leon always dwell in the peace of our Lord.
