Teddy Abernathy, Jr. age 78, of Monmouth, Illinois; passed away at Heartland Health Care Center in Galesburg, Illinois on Thursday October 28th, at 3:40 am.
Teddy was born on February 24, 1932 in Prairie City, Illinois and is the son of Theordore and Ona Miller Abernathy.
He was raised in Bushnell, Illinois and attended school at Walnut Grove.
Ted entered the Army from 1951 to 1956 and served as a Sargent in Korea. Teddy received his G.E.D. while in service.
Teddy married Catherine Steis on May 8, 1982 at Faith Church in Monmouth, IL.
Teddy first worked in the foundry in Galva, Illinois. He then was employed at Admiral Corporation in Galesburg for 18 years as a base crater. He also worked for Vaughn and Bushnell hammer factory in Bushnell, Illinois.
Teddy was an avid Chicago Cubs and Bears Fan. He is a member of the Marion B Fletcher Post 136 and the J.W. Clendenin Post 2301.
Surviving Teddy is his wife, Catherine Abernathy of Monmouth, IL. Step daughters Joan (Leon ) Lowe of Bushnell, Illinois and Cinda (Tom) Stansbury of Monmouth, Illinois. He has two brothers surviving, Richard Abernathy of Rushville, Illinois and Wayne Abernathy of Galva, Illinois. Preceding him in death are his parents, one daughter, four brothers, and two sisters.

Services: A graveside funeral service and military honors will be at 11:00 am will be on Monday November 1, 2010 at the Monmouth Cemetery. His family plans a visitation to receive friends on Monday from 9:30 am to 11:00 am at Turnbull Funeral Home. A memorial fund is being established for either the Diabetes Association or Faith United Presbyterian Church of Monmouth, IL
