Hewston married Cenith Padgett on February 26, 1845, in Tippecanoe County, Indiana. Cenith (aka Cena, aka Sena) was a sister to Elizabeth, wife of Beniah Dimmitt, buried in Row 12, and she was also a sister to Matilda, who married Hewton's brother, William M. Dimmitt.

Hewston & Sena were the parents of five children, and all of them are linked to their memorials.

After Hewston's death, Sena married Laomi Lively, and she and some her children and their families are buried with Laomi in the Ottumwa Cemetery. Laomi's first wife Matilda and their two sons Elias W. and Joseph H. are also buried in Roundpoint, in Row 23.
---------------
In 1997, we found this stone lying face up in the brush engulfing this grave site. There was no sign of lichen on his stone; however, it was badly encrusted with soil and dried plants. The stone cleaned up beautifully and is an especially attractive stone. It is a very heavy stone, and the writing on it is exceptionally deep and well-carved.

The original base for this stone was not in good shape. Because of the size and weight of the base this stone needed, we brought our form to the cemetery and poured a new base at the grave site. The stone was reset in this new base, and the old base was discarded.

Epitaph:
A pilgrim on his dying bed
With glory in his soul
Upwards he lifts his longing eyes
Towards the blissful goal
While friends and children weep around
And loth to let him go
He shouts with his expiring breath
And leaves them all below.

Note: From information we have had in the family, Hewston was born October 21 1818; however, by using the dates provided on his gravestone, his date of birth would have been October 22, 1818.
