Mr. Earl Raymond Amoss Sr., 65, of 403 W. South St., Frederick, died Saturday, March 13, at Frederick Memorial Hospital.
Born April 30, 1933, in West Friendship, he was the son of the late Stanley Leroy Sr. and Clara India Snowden Amoss.
A farmhand for many years, he was most recently employed as a mechanic for Hahn Transportation, New Market.
He served in the U.S. Army from 1953 to 1955.
Surviving are three children, Earl Raymond Amoss Jr. and wife Karen of Frederick, Ruth Anne Njong and husband Jude of Silver Spring, and Carol Lynn Knott and husband Joseph of Harpers Ferry, W.Va.; six grandchildren, Trisha Renne Konders of Harpers Ferry, W.Va., Jessica Bi Njong of Silver Spring, and Tonja Wagner and husband John, Christopher Allen Amoss and Bradley and Brook Knott, all of Frederick; one great-grandson, William Franklin Wagner of Frederick; six brothers, Howard Amoss of Reading, Pa., Robert Amoss of Rocky Ridge, Richard Amoss of Detour; Norman Amoss of Panama City, Fla., Roy Amoss of Ellicott City, and Lloyd Amoss of Mount Airy; three sisters, Doris Gasaway of Mount Airy, Mary Gayer of Ellicott City and Gail Ridenour of Gaithersburg; and his former wife, Shirley Springer of Frederick.
He will also be remembered by special friends Mary, Dennie and Donald Stitely, all of Frederick.
He was preceded in death by three brothers, Stanley Jr., Russell and Kenneth Amoss; and one sister, Grace Shaw.
Services will be at the convenience of the family.
