Interment will follow in North Hopkins Cemetery with Rip Vanwinkle, Dennis Maxfield, Delbert Logan, Deckman Goggans, Danny Evans, Tate Price and Tim Vestal serving as pallbearers.
Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 27, 2009, at West Oaks Funeral Home.
Mr. Deaton passed away Monday, Oct. 26, 2009, at his residence.
Jimmie Ray Deaton was born on April 6, 1927, in the Emblem community, the son of Lawrence Edward and Maggie Bell Gibson Deaton.
He married Jeniva Ruth Dixon on Jan. 23, 1947, in Sulphur Springs. She survives.
Mr. Deaton was a cattleman and barber. He served in the United States Navy. He was a member of First Baptist Church.
Other survivors include his three daughters, Sally Maxfield and husband Dennis, Janie Deaton Logan and husband Delbert, and Deana Goggans and husband Deckman, all of Sulphur Springs; one brother, Don Deaton and wife Pat of Sulphur Springs; one sister, Dean Gafford of Fort Worth; five grandchildren, Kristy Brown, Amber Evans, Kobie Price, Jolie Anderson and Katie Vestal; and eight great-grandchildren, Randi Lynn Mitchell, Rayli Price, Kasen Price, Lexi Price, Todd Anderson, Emmi Price, Brody Brown and Bella Wakefield.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Charlie Deaton.
Memorials may be made to the Library at First Baptist Church, 116 Oak Ave., Sulphur Springs, Texas 75482.
