Kate Bailey was born in Wilton, Waseca county, Minnesota in 1859, the daughter of Philo and Avis Bailey. She married Eugene Wallace Fiske, 21 Dec 1880. Eugene, who moved from N.Y. to Waseca county , MN in 1872, was engaged in the contracting and building business before he and Kate moved to Helena in 1888.
Helena Independent Record, April 24, 1934: Katherine Bailey Fiske, 75, widow of Eugene Wallace Fiske and for many years a resident of Helena, passed away at her home on Montana avenue early yesterday morning. Funeral arrangements will be announced later.
She is survived by five children and 17 grandchildren. Her sons are Kenneth Bailey Fiske of Albion, Mich., and John Manchester Fiske of Eustis, and three daughters, Mrs. Avis Hopkins of Marysville, Mrs. Gretchen Pool of Billings and Mrs. Gail Avery of Helena. Mrs. Fiske was a member of the Unitarian church, a charter member of the Woman's Alliance and an honorary member of the Woman's club. The body is at the Opp and Conrad chapel.
