Although they have never found the tombstone, it is reported by story handed down to Christian's direct relatives that he is buried on his farm in what is now Oldham County, Kentucky. Modern cousins have looked the property over and never found any cemetery area. You can put 7 Sep 1843 for his death in Oldham County, Kentucky. I have his estate papers after the fact, as well as his will, and they say so.
He also was born in Switzerland. He told his descendants that he remember sheep herding with his dad on the mountains of Switzerland and the clouds were so close he could drink the mist. He told how they had to go up the Rhine River over 1000 miles to get to Holland where they lived for a while before getting on the ships to America.
His children said he came to visit when he was 100 years old. They lived in Washington County, Indiana, and he lived across the river in Oldham County, Kentucky. There was at this time a fight over a cornpipe. His wife (his last one, Hannah Dawkins) used one pipe between them. He never moved after coming to Kentucky; the counties just moved.
