Son of the Local Post Master who died at age 10 from an accidental fall from a train on the Virginia & Truckee RR. It seems the local boys were in the habit of catching a ride on the train as it passed through Gold Hill on its way to Virginia city. It seems that young William's foot slipped as he hopped on one of the cars and as a result was fatally injured in the fall. He was not run over by the train.
The attached photo of William Jr. was taken in the later 1880s. The Photo of The Eddy Family Marker was taken in Sept. 2001 and shows a 1940-50s replacement of the wooden originals that were stolen.
The other two photos show the Gold Hill NV City Cemetery as it looks today.
