This is the obit for Lewis A. Blankenship that was in the Douglas Budget Nov. 11, 1982:

BLANKENSHIP RITES OBSERVED IN GLENDO NOV. 20 (heading is wrong; it should be Nov. 12 and actually they had not been "oberved" yet when the paper came out!!!!)

Funeral services for Lewis Arthur Blankenship will be held Friday, Nov. 12, 1982 at 2:00 p.m. at the Glendo Community Church with Rev. Harry B. Randall III officiating. Interment will be in Horseshoe Cemetery. Lewis Arthur Blankenship, age 74, died Tuesday, Nov. 9, 1982 at the Converse County Memorial Hospital in Douglas.

Lewis, the son of Mack Daniel and Anna Marie Johns Blankenship, was born Dec. 16, 1907 in Schuyler, Nebraska. He was reared and educated in Schuyler. He moved to Wyoming in 1934 and has been a resident of Wyoming since that time. He was married to Irene Gertrude Hensel Homewood on October 30, 1940 in Billings, Montana. He worked many years for CB&Q Railroad, which took him and his family to many communities in Wyoming. He retired in 1966. Lewis and his wife moved to Glendo in December, 1963. He had remained a resident there until the time of his death.

He is survived by one daughter, Mrs. J. W. (Dorothy) Lovell of Torrington, Wyo.; two sisters, Martha Ankeny of Sheridan, Wyo. and Margaret Schnieter of Portland, Ore.; niece and nephew, Carol and Bud Strohecker of Casper, Wyo. and numerous other nieces and nephews; a cousin, Lena Remick of Casper, Wyo.; three grandsons, Tom Lovell of Torrington, Wyo., Gary Lovell of Alliance, Neb., and Gene Lovell of Torrington, Wyo. He is preceded in death by his parents; his wife, March 6, 1982; one brother, Henry, who died at Pearl Harbor on Dec. 7, 1941; and two sisters Elizabeth Blankenship and Emma Carlson.

Serving as pallbearers are Less Parker, Irving Twiford, Russell Twiford, Bob Eller, Henry Weimer, and Thomas J. Shipley. A memorial has been established to Glendo Community Church.
