She was preceded in death by her husband of 46 years, C.E. Laborde, Jr. and her parents, Edward and Emma Coco, her brothers, Ashton Coco, Lysso Coco, Lawrence "Pete" Coco and Merlin Coco.
She is survived by her nine children: E. Theodore"Ted"Laborde (Mary Merle) New Orleans, LA, Bernadine"Noonie"LeJeune (Clay) Mandeville, LA, Joan Ross(Danny) Atlanta, GA, Nancy Williams (Sidney) Houston, TX, Clare Condon (David) Houston, TX, Louise Liliedahl (Kent) LaPlace, LA, Cliffe E. Laborde, III (Margaret) Lafayette, LA, Debbie Horigan (John) Corning, NY, Kevin A. Laborde (Kathy) New Orleans, LA, and 36 grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Marguerite Major LeBlanc of New Roads, LA, and her brothers-in-law: Alden J. Laborde of New Orleans, LA, Lucien P. Laborde (Peggy) of Hamburg, LA, John P. Laborde (Sylvia) of New Orleans, LA.
Born in Mansura, LA on April 13, 1914, she was a lifelong resident of Avoyelles Parish. Her education began at Our Lady of Victory School in Mansura, and she went on to attend Dominican College in New Orleans. After graduating from Louisiana State University in 1935, she taught school in Hessmer. Following her marriage, she and her husband resided in Marksville for 37 years. For the last 36 years Rexmere Plantation has been her home.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated by The Reverend Monsignor Steve Testa VF at 1:00PM Sunday, October 24, 2010 at St. Peter Catholic Church, Bordelonville, LA.
Visitation will take place at the church prior to the service, from 11:00AM to 1:00PM.
Interment will follow at St. Michael Catholic Church Cemetery, Rexmere, LA under the direction of Melancon Funeral Home, Bunkie, LA.
