Funeral services for Robert L. Bob Axelson, age 77, of Plainville will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, March 29, 2010 at the First Christian Church in Plainville with Pastor Larry Lyles officiating. Mr. Axelson passed away Friday, March 26, 2010 at the Hays Medical Center in Hays, Kansas.
He was born June 17, 1932 in Plainville the son of George F. and Mable (Clements) Axelson.
Mr. Axelson has been a Rooks County resident most of his life graduating from Codell High School. Bob worked with his fathers company George Axelson and Son and later for Bobs Backhoe and Sons as a heavy equipment operator. Bob enjoyed the outdoors, fishing, hunting, camping, and especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
On April 10, 1954 he married Lois Storment in Codell. To this union 5 children were born, Sherry, Rick, David, Robert and Steve. Survivors include his wife Lois of the home; daughter Sherry and husband Dean Meitler; sons Rick and wife Sheryln Axelson, David and wife Susie Axelson, Robert Rob and wife Lisa Axelson; brother Ron and wife Alice Axelson; sister in law Wendella Axelson; 15 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his son Steve on September 19, 2007, brothers George and John, and his parents George F. and Mable Axelson; and granddaughter Megan.
Burial will be in the Plainville Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5-8 Saturday, 9-8 Sunday at the chapel and from 9:30 10:30 Monday at the First Christian Church. Memorial contributions may be made to the Robert L. Axelson Memorial Fund to be decided later and may be sent in care of the Moore-Overlease Funeral Chapel, 409 S. Cochran, Plainville, Kansas 67663.
