TURZAH MORGAN

When an individual has spent eighty years in this life, an opportunity has been given for much service, and this fact is especially true with reference to the subject of this sketch, for she found opportunity to do much good in many ways. If industry, patience, charity and sacrifice stands for service, then Mrs. Morgan has given her full quota. Early in life she was married to James Morgan and was known as a congenial, and helpful wife.

No children being born to them, the worthy couple welcomed into their home, and hearts, three young orphans, Charles Duree, Jesse Hise and sister, Viola, all of whom they reared to man and womanhood. Besides these, other young people often found shelter, and kindness under their roof. This too was notably true of the aged, and helpless. The husband, and wife were members of the United Brethern Church, and while in health were found at church meetings, both of them heeding the word of Christ, as their creed suggested. No doubt much of the love, and help extended to others was the result of their Christian beliefs.

Mrs. Morgan had lived in the home where death found her waiting, for sixty years, the husband passing away twenty-seven years ago. Some time ago, the management of the farm and home were turned over to Charles Duree who with his good wife cared for her in every way during her declining years, and recent illness.

Turzah Hise, born July 3rd, 1825, passed away on July 19th, 1925, at the age of 80 years and 16 days. One of five sisters and three brothers, Eliza, Aaron and Cornelious, preceded this sister to their final home. A few relatives are left, but many friends are here to testify to her worth, and they remember her with gratitude, and love her many redeeming traits. Much sympathy is extended to those with whom she has lived and to whom she extended a mother's love. ---

(Jesse and Viola Hise were the children of Turzah's brother Jesse and his wife Mary Jane Runyan).
