CHARLES E. JABLONSKI
AGE: 67 FORMERLY OF UNION BEACH

Charles E. Jablonski, 67, of Merritt Island, Fla., passed away Saturday, Oct. 16, 2010, at Bellin Medical Center, Green Bay, Wisconsin.

He was born in Jersey City, where he resided prior to moving to Union Beach.

In 1980, his career brought him to Cocoa Beach, Fla. Shortly thereafter, his family moved to Merritt Island, Fla., where he and his wife have resided for the past 21 years.

CJ was a Merchant Marine since the age of 17, where he had the opportunity to sail and travel all over the world. He worked his way up the ranks to become a Chief Engineer.

He sailed on the S.S. Bridgeton, which at the time was the largest ship in the United States; and the 4th largest in the world. He retired from his career in December 2009.

He was a member of the Moose Club, Merritt Island; the Masters Mates and Pilots Union; and the Marine Engineer Benevelant Association.

Charles was predeceased by his devoted mother, Genevieve Ciarkowski Jablonski, in 2007; and a brother, John K. Jablonski.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 38 years, Gloria "Ivonne" Diaz Jablonski of Merritt Island; his devoted father, John S. Jablonski of Union Beach; a loving daughter, Susan Day and her husband, Patrick of Ponte Vedra, Fla.; a loving son, Charles A. Jablonski and his fiancee, Tiara Imbriano of Orlando, Fla.; a dear brother, Wayne Jablonski and his wife, Donnamarie of Union Beach; and their children, Joseph, Lauren and John Jablonski; a lifelong friend, Richard Meagher of Union Beach; and four precious grandchildren, Marissa, Blaise, Sunny and Fionn Day. He will be truly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Family and friends are invited from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday, Oct. 22 at Day Funeral Home, 361 Maple Place, Keyport, and 8:30 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 23 at the funeral home, with a 9:30 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at Holy Family R.C. Church, Union Beach. Interment to follow at Holy Cross Cemetery, North Arlington.
