Lucy Atwater Brown was born February 16, 1893 in Ft. Thomas, Campbell Co., KY. She was the daughter of Douglas Atwater Brown (1854-1919) and his wife Susie Youtsey (1861-1939). Lucy attended local schools in Ft. Thomas and across the river in Cincinnati, Ohio. She married Josiah Bridge (1890-1953) on June 05, 1918 in San Mateo, San Mateo Co., CA. Josiah was a Lieutenant in the Army in World War I, and later a geologist, first teaching and later on staff with the US Geological Survey in Washington, DC.
Lucy and Josiah Bridge had three sons: Herbert S. Bridge (1919-1995), Richard B. Bridge (1920-2002), and James A. Bridge (1922-2008).

Lucy and Josiah Bridge lived at 40 Columbia Ave., in Takoma Park, MD from about 1930 until just before her death. Lucy loved her flowers and her garden. At the time of her death in addition to her 3 sons, she was survived by 12 grandchildren, and 16 great-grandchildren. Lucy died May 20, 1987 in Wheaton, Montgomery Co., MD. Lucy at the age of 94, out lived everyone of her generation.
