Alphonso's first wife was Bertie Obena Gwaltney
(divorced in 13 October 1936, in Goldsboro, North Carolina)

His 2nd wife was Eunice Wiley. They divorced in January, 1490. Divorced January 1940 on grounds of 2 years separation. See Wayne County Court House Docket Book 25 Page 61.

His 3rd wife was Nellie Strickland Combs.

From a letter written by Fonzy's daughter, Chrisine Epps Gardner:

December 29, 1981

Daddy died about 7:30 this morning. Viola Epps Sykes (sister) & Mary Epps Sprion (daughter) were with him.

December 30, 1981

Daddy's funeral was a graveside service only. Roy Epps (son) gave the talk and prayer. Daddy's sisters Annie and Viola and his brother Clifton were there. Also other relatives.
