Grandma Epps (Lucy Isabelle Powell Epps) was a "Holy Roller Holiness" (e.g. a member of the Pentecostal Holiness Church). She was completely converted to her church. Her grand daughter, Christine, went with her on occaision. They would shout and sing. Founded by Abner Blackman Crumpler, a Methodist Holiness preacher from North Carolina, the church was organized in 1896 as the North Carolina Holiness Association. The name was changed to the Pentecostal Holiness Church. The first congregation of this church was formed in Goldsboro, North Carolina, in 1898.

The Pelt-Pate cemetery is located about 1/4 south of the intersection of Stoney Creek Church road and highway 111.behind some trees next to the house at 1940 NC 111 , with gps (e.g. google-earth) coordinates: 35°26'32.28"N 77°57'32.84"W
