Biography
Mr. Elliott Sidney Gresham, Jr., age 67, of 61 Hawks Cay Blvd, Duck Key, FL, formerly of Rome, GA, died Sunday, December 30,2007, in Florida.
A native of Rome and Floyd County, Mr. Gresham was born on July 16,1940, the son of Elliott Sidney Gresham, Sr. and the late Bomer Loveless Gresham and was of the Baptist faith. He was a 1960 graduate of Pepperell High School and served for 6 years with the United States Army Reserves. Mr Gresham had been a building contractor and carpenter for the greater part of his life and at the time of his death was the maintenance supervisor at Hawks Cay Resort. Prior to moving to Florida he was associated with the Rome Fire Department. Mr. Gresham enjoyed golf, fishing and carpenter work. In addition to his mother, Mr. Gresham is preceded in death by a brother, Charles Marcus Gresham.
Mr. Gresham is survived by a son, Elliott Sidney Gresham, III, of Rome;father, Elliott Sidney (Annice Elizabeth) Gresham, Sr.;one sister, Martha (Gene) Hammond of Lindale, GA;two brothers, Ronald L. (Ida)Gresham of Fayetteville, NC, and James Larry (Edna) Gresham of Panama City, FL. Several nieces and nephews also survive. Also, he is survived by his extended family at Hawks Cay Resort.
Graveside and interment services will be held Wednesday, January 9,2008, at 3:00 P.M. in the Bush Arbor Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Scott Lambert officiating.
Mr. Gresham will remain in the Heritage Chapel of the Jennings Funeral Home where the family will receive friends on Wednesday from 12:30 P.M. until 2:30 P.M. and at other hours can be contacted at 40 Lakeview Dr.SE,Lindale, GA.
The following gentlemen have been asked to serve as pallbearers and are requested to meet in the Heritage Chapel of the Jennings Funeral Home on Wednesday by 2:00 P.M.:Tom Poindexter, Gary Fincher, Ronnie McAbee, Max Studdards, Mike Spears, and Gregory Hammond.
