END COMES SUDDENLY FOR EDWARD ROUSE
Edward Rouse, 70, lifelong resident of the county and well known Meigsville township resident, died of a heart attack at the home of Neelyville telephone operators, Misses Pearl and Lenora Barnhouse, at 9:30 a.m., Monday. Mr. Rouse, who had suffered from heart trouble for years, had been in his usual health and had only recently returned from a visit with relatives at Canton. He was outside, gathering kindling, when he complained to Miss Pearl Barnhouse that his heart was bothering him. She summoned help but death ensued in only a few moments. Born in Penn township, June 7, 1882, Mr. Rouse was a son of the late Levi and Charity Scott Rouse. He spent his entire lifetime in the county, much of it in Meigsville township. For 15 years, he was president of the Neelyville Telephone Co. Mr. Rouse took a keen interest in the grange and had committed to memory of the ritualistic work of practically every station. He was a 30 year granger. Surviving are one brother, Joseph Rouse of Meigsville, and a number of nieces and nephews. The sisters, Mrs. Emma Nixon, Mrs. Martha Gray, Mrs. Mary Brown and Miss Elizabeth Rouse are deceased. Two sisters died in infancy. Funeral services were conducted by Rev. H. N. Mason at Ebenezer Methodist Church, of which he was a member, at 2:30 p.m., yesterday, with burial in the church cemetery. Pallbearers were Floyd Lindimore, Roy White, Robert A Hammond, Alex Spencer, Charles Spratt, and Don C. McCormick.
