Georgia Domoney

DOWNS -- Georgia Domoney, 87, passed away Thursday, Aug. 12, 2010, at the Porter Hospice Center in Centennial, Colo. Georgia was born Dec. 8, 1922, in Dispatch to Benjamin and Gertrude (Voss) Koops. She graduated from Downs High School.

After high school, she and her sister, Arloa, worked at Shwayder Brothers (Samsonite Luggage), in Denver for several years. On Sept. 7, 1944, she married Vernon Domoney. She and her husband Vernon were co-owners of Domoney Furniture and Funeral Home until selling out to their nephew, Dewey, in 1982.

Georgia was a member of Dispatch Christian Reformed Church of the Downs until her marriage, and then a member of United Methodist Church, where she was the church organist for 52 years.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Vernon, on Oct. 10, 2006; and one sister, Virginia VanSchoonveld.

Survivors include her son, Brent and wife Evonne, of Highlands Ranch, Colo.; one daughter, Dana Spangler, of Atlanta; one sister, Arloa Byleveld; one brother, Gail Koops; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday and funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Monday, Aug. 16, both at United Methodist Church, Downs.
