Elizabeth Woodruff, a woman of sterling worth and filial duty, who was a daughter of Joseph Woodruff, the first settler in the present flourishing town of Woodruff, S. C., and from whom it derived its name…... end.

Brother of Elizabeth Woodruff, "Samuel Woodruff" married Mary Allen, who was sister to Elizabeth's husband Caleb Allen.

Elizabeth died 29th day of October 1875 at the home of her son The Hon. Eber Sylbester Allen. For sixty three years she was a consistent and exemplary member of Bethel Baptist Church and for many years had been regarded as a mother in Israel. No one knew her but to love her and none spoke of her but in terms of praise. Her journal was preached on Saturday Oct. 30, 1875 and she was buried in Bethel Cemetery.
