Mrs. E.L. Watkins Dies in Messick
Messick, Apr. 11--Mrs. Mary Elizabeth Watkins, 82, died at her home here this afternoon after a short illness. A native of Messick, and a lifelong resident of the community, she was a member of Trinity Methodist Church and the Ladies Bible Class of the church. Survivors include her husband, E.L. Watkins, and a son, T.H. Watkins, both of Messick; three sisters, Mrs. W.S. Rollins, Mrs. M.V. Rand and Mrs. W.C. Topping, all of Jeffs; four brothers, H.S. Bunting of Messick, and J.F. Bunting, E.D. Bunting, and S.T. Bunting, all of Jeffs; two grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. Funeral arrangements are incomplete.
Comment: Jeffs was the area of present-day Poquoson, then part of York County, around present-day Bunting Lane and Church Road. The Buntings all seemed to live in that vicinity.
