In making up for the years he missed, Arthur wrote for newspapers, collected phonograph records, learned to skate, performed in an acting troop and joined the Student Army Training program at Boston College.
However, while participating in the training, Arthur was subjected to the Influenza Epidemic of 1918. The disease killed him.
