Until freezers were common place, ice was delivered by businesses to individual homes and establishments. It would be placed in an ice house behind the home or in an icebox inside. In this photograph is salesman Pat Simpson representing the Southern ice Company in 1928.

1917 St. Louis, Iron Mountain and Southern Railroad, after bankruptcy was reorganized and changed officially to the Missouri Pacific Railroad.

1923 on Thanksgiving Day, a horrific car/train accident claimed the life of his brother, my grandpa Henry Simpson. Henry's occupation was also driver of an ice wagon. He was only 37.
