Charles R. Board, Retired Grocery Man, Is Summoned.
Charles R Board, 80, retired grocery man of 812 N. Fifth street, passed away Sunday evening at the St. Nicholas hospital after an illness.
Mr. Board was born in the town of Farmington, Ozaukee Co. on Oct 7, 1864, the son of Charles & Susan Board. He came to Sheboygan in 1890 and made his home here since.
On Sept. 22, 1896, he was married to Elizabeth Drain by the late Rt. Rev Msgr. D. F. Thill at the Holy Name church.
After operating a grocery business for 30 years he retired about 7 years ago.
He was a devout member of St. Clement's church and of its Holy Name Society. His affiliations also included the Knights of Columbus of which he was a charter member.
Besides his wife he is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Russell
Egner of Minneapolis; five grandchildren; three sisters, Mrs. Joseph Piper of Saginaw, Mich, Mrs. Julius Yahr of Fredonia and Mrs. Ernest Gerlach of West Bend. He was preceded in death by five brothers and three sisters.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 8:30 a.m. with a brief service at the Gerend Funeral home followed by a requiem high mass at St Clement's church at 9 with Father John D. Durein as celebrant. Burial will take place on the family lot in Calvary cemetery.
Friends may call at the Gerand Funeral home from Tuesday noon until the time of the services.
The Knights of Columbus will hold a vigil for Mr. Board at the Gerend Funeral home on Tuesday evening at 7:30.
