George Gaston was the son of Moses and Ann (MacDonald) Gaston from Pugwash, Nova Scotia, Canada, and he was my Great-Grandmother's Uncle; which would make him my Gr-Gr-Grand Uncle.
While my Gr-Grandmother moved to the Boston area, some of the other GASTON family members (father Moses, George, brother William, and sisters Christine Frances and Bella) moved out to the Pacific Northwest between 1861 and 1880.
From records and articles that I have found, it appears that George became a fairly successful logger. He also married into a family which history will come to know as a "founding family" of the area - the Bush family. George marries Mandana Isabelle "Belle" Bush around 1883 in Bush Prairie (now Tumwater?), WA. They produced two children that I can find so far: George William and Annie Belle.
In later years, George will become the Sheriff of the area, and then County Assessor.
Mandana Isabelle "Belle" (Bush) Gaston died in 1921, and while I have not found a marriage record for it, George's obituary mentions that he remarried to a woman named Mrs. Foxwell, (by backtracking census records, I have found that her name was "Mary Jane (Ball) FOXWELL", widow of Jonathan FOXWELL - both of Wisconsin.... Mary Jane (Ball)(Foxwell) GASTON passed 27 June 1944), who survived him at his passing in 1930. George was buried next to Belle, and near his son George William Gaston.
