Felix Demanade, one of Lafayette's prominent citizens and business men passed away Saturday, May 21, at 10 p.m. at the family residence, 110 Jackson Street after an extended illness of several months.
The deceased was a native of Louisiana, born in the year 1850. For several years he resided in the state of Texas and upon returning to Louisiana made his home in Lafayette. Mr. Demanade was engaged in the merchandise business for many hears and was president of the Merchants Grocer Company for 18 years and also vice-president of the First National Bank.
Mr. Demanade is survived by one son, Harold; two brothers, Adie and Paul; one sister, Mrs. Eva Bourgeois of Mount Airy, La.
The funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at 5 o'clock from the residence to the Protestant Cemetery. C.C. Wier of Algiers, a friend of many years of the deceased, officiated, assisted by Rev. C.C. Miller of Morgan City and Rev. H.W. Rickey of Lafayette. A large number of the host of friends that the deceased had in Lafayette attended the funeral.
