Former Gov. White, who has been at her bedside since she became seriously ill more than a month ago, was present when she died shortly before dawn. The 78-year-old former governor has been under a doctor's care for a heart condition brought on by the strain of his wife's condition.
Mrs. White is the former Miss Judith Weir Sugg of Provindenc [sic Providence], Ky. They had no children.
Funeral services will be held at 3:30 p.m. Saturday at the J. J. White Memorial Presbyterian church in McComb. Interment will be in Hollywood cemetery in McComb. Dr. John Reed Miller, pastor of First Presbyterian church of Jackson, will officiate, assisted by the Rev. Gault Robertson and the Rev. August Schmidt.
