Verna M. Allison, 87
East Liverpool - Verna M. Allison, 87, formerly of the Calcutta Commons, died at 3 a.m. Wednesday Oct. 31, 1995, at the Adkins Nursing Home following a lengthy illness. She was born in Lincoln County, W.Va., June 15, 1908, a daughter of the late Ward and Margie Hall Sergent. She lived most of her life in the Tri-State Area. She was a member of the Riverside Presbyterian Church in Wellsville and its women's group. Her second husband, Orin Allison, died Dec. 29, 1977. She also was preceded in death by a daughter, Janet Allison Ward Clutter in 1967; two brothers and two sisters. She is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Thomas (Irena) Tuft of Aliquippa, Pa.; two sons, Therman "John" Lawson of Aurora, Colo., and O. Michael Lawson of Alexandria, Va.; a sister, Mrs. Buford (Lena Ruth) Thornton of Hurricane, W.Va.; four brothers, Sam Sergent of Luckey, Ohio, Clinton Sergent of Pemberville, Ohio, and Don Sergent and Dale Sergent of Hurricane; 11 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. The Rev. Patricia Young of the church will conduct services at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Dawson Funeral Home. Burial will be in Columbiana County Memorial Park. Friends may call at the funeral home from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday.
