Services for Roy R. Young, 87, of Willoughby, a retired hammerman, will be 1 p.m. Friday at Davis Trust 100 Funeral Home, 4154 Clark Ave., Willoughby.

Mr. Young died Nov. 3, 1997, at his home.

Born Dec. 23, 1909, in Pasco, W.Va., he had lived in Cleveland before moving to Willoughby 33 years ago.

Mr. Young was a World War II Navy veteran and a member of the Boilermakers Union. He enjoyed gardening and visiting Las Vegas.

He retired in 1972 after many years of service with Park Drop Forge Co, in Cleveland.

Survivors include his daughters, Jean (Martin) Johnson, Ruth Kelly, and Sandra (Jim) Tuggle; sons Bill and Clint Young; 15 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren; and sisters, Gypsy Newberry and Vada Doak.

His wife of 63 years, Helen E., died in March 1997. His parents F.D. and Ann (Reger) Young, granddaughter Melissa Young, and brother, Harlan Young, also are deceased.

Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. The Rev. Chris Jackson, associate pastor of Willoughby Hills Evangelical Friends Church, will officiate at services. Interment will be in Plains Road Cemetery, Willoughby.

The family suggests contributions in his memory be made to the Lakeland Community College Vietnam Veterans Scholarship Fund, 7700 Clocktower Drive, Kirtland 44094.
