Bailey Woodrow Hickey, 88, of Broken Arrow, passed away Wednesday, August 15, 2007.

Bailey was born July 23, 1919 in Hickeytown, Arkansas to Charles Jackson and Ada Jane (O'Neal) Hickey. He graduated from Clarksville, Arkansas High School. After graduation, he enlisted in the U.S. Army and served during WWII for 4 ½ years in the Aleutian Islands and later served in the Korean
Conflict. Bailey married Ila Mae Harding on June 3, 1946 at Clarksville, Arkansas.

He attended Arkansas State Teachers College in Conway, Arkansas and received his Master's Degree from the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville. He was an avid Arkansas Razorbacks fan. He taught at Clarksville Jr. High School and was the High School Basketball Coach in Newark, Arkansas from 1950-1951. From 1954-1955 he was the High School Principal and Coach at Farmington, Arkansas.

In 1955 Bailey and Ila Mae moved to Oklahoma where he taught in the Broken Arrow School System until his retirement in 1984. He was a member of the Broken Arrow Church of Christ, Retired Oklahoma Teachers Assoc. and BA Senior Citizens.

Bailey was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Greg; two brothers and two sisters. Survivors at the time of his passing included his wife, Ila Mae Hickey of the home; son Gary Hickey, daughters Beverly Burgett and Karen Schoen, all of Broken Arrow, and four grandchildren.

A funeral service was held in his memory August 17, 2007 at the Broken Arrow Church of Christ with Scott Keele officiating. Interment followed at Park Grove Cemetery under the direction of Christian-Gavlik Funeral Home.
