Fermon William Davenport, 80, of the 200 block of W. Hanbury Road, died Thursday, July 1, 1993, at his residence.
Mr. Davenport was born in Creswell, N.C., the son of the late Sansbury and Mary Craddock Davenport. He was a resident of Great Bridge for 53 years and was a self-employed barber in the area for more than 30 years. He attended Great Bridge Congregational Christian Church and was a member of American Legion Post 280. He was a Navy veteran of World War II.
He is survived by his wife, Marie Meads Davenport of the home; a son, Fermon M. Davenport of Floyd County, Va.; a sister, Marie Davidson of Norview, Va.; and two brothers, Mack Davenport of Roper, N.C., and Melvin Davenport of Creswell.
A funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. today in Twiford Colonial Chapel, Great Bridge, with the Rev. Jim Hunnewell officiating. Burial will be in Riverside Memorial Park, Norfolk. The family will receive friends at the residence.
