Sarah Jane Dabney married 1) Abner Tharp on 23 Nov 1873 2) Robert Kinsler on 2 Sep 1887 3) Nathan Dee Tharp.

The marriage of Abner and Sarah ended in divorce after Abner tried on at least two occasions to kill her father, Francis Marion Dabney. The death of her second husband, Robert Kinsler, left her a widow before she married her sister's widowed husband Nathan Tharp of Nebraska.

Although Sarah is listed on the second stone with her second husband, no death date is inscribed. (This stone is in the Burgher Cemetery in Davis County, Iowa.)When Sarah died she was to have been buried next to her second husband, but when the grave was dug they found the body of a child in that space. Rather than disturb the child's body, Sarah's body was laid to rest in the Dooley Cemetery. Therefore she is actually buried at Dooley Cemetery under her third husband's last name, Tharp. He is buried in Nebraska with his first wife Arena Dabney.
