Callie Merrick Stapp was born Rachel Alwilda Williamson in Hancock County, OH. Her father William Hiram Williamson was killed in the Civil War. Rachel always went by the nickname of Callie. When she was a small child, her mother Caroline Williamson relocated with some relatives by wagon train, and brought the children to Dade County MO.

Caroline married Andrew Ragsdale on September 18, 1870. She died July 1, 1888, and was buried in Greenfield Cemetery. She is the only one of the family who was buried in Greenfield Cemetery. It is unknown why Andrew buried her in Greenfield Cemetery, as Andrew is buried a small family cemetery southwest of South Greenfield, MO.

On October 17, 1879 Callie married Martin Hawkins Merrick. She had three children, Odah, Artie "Carrie" and Ruth. Martin died in 1924, and was buried in the Merrick family cemetery west of Pennsboro, MO. Callie later married Henry Stapp. She died in her home of breast cancer on Feb 27, 1930.

Her 2nd husband, Henry Stapp, had her buried under the name Callie Merrick Stapp, in Pennsboro Cemetery, planning to have her 1st husband Martin Merrick moved there later. But, the depression came along, and there was no money to have Martin moved. Henry died in 1937, and was buried next to his 1st wife in Daughtrey Cem, about 3 miles west of South Greenfield, MO.

By that time, the family had given up on moving Martin, so Martin and Callie now remain buried in separate cemeteries, about three miles apart.
