She died Wednesday evening, Aug. 1, in East Georgia Regional Medical Center following an extended illness.
A native of Emanuel County, Mrs. Martin had lived most of her life in Jefferson County at Bartow. She moved to Statesboro in June 2000 to be near her daughter. Mrs. Martin had worked for many years until the closing of Wadley Shirt Company. She was a member of Nails Creek Baptist Church in Bartow. She was the widow of Dan Martin and the mother of the late Dot Woodard.
Survivors include a daughter, Helen Carpenter of Statesboro; two sons, Rudolph D. Martin of Bartow and Murphy E. Martin of Sandersville; five grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Jake A. Futch Funeral Home had charge of arrangements.
