Eddie was survived by his wife Mary Tapia of Nambé; sons: Edward E. Tapia Jr. (wife Margie) of Pojoaque, Timothy Tapia of Nambé, John Tapia (wife Karen) of La Puebla; daughters: Patricia Tapia-Gomez (husband George D. Gomez) of El Rancho, Christina Terpanick (husband Alan) of Colonia, New Jersey, Teresa Day (husband Ethan) of Scottsdale, Arizona; 12 grandchildren; sisters: Guadalupe "Pita" Lucero (Claudio), Mary Sirianni (husband Gus), all of Tracy, California, and Teresa Madrid (husband Ivan), of Ribera; brothers: Reyes Tapia of Tracy, California, Bobby Tapia (wife Chello) of Albuquerque, Mauricio Tapia Jr. and Felipe Tapia (wife Mary), all of Las Vegas, New Mexico; and many other relatives and friends.
Eddie was employed by Los Alamos National Laboratory for more than 30 years. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean conflict (1950-53); and on Nov. 11, 2003, was honored at the dedication of the Española Veterans Memorial. He was an avid hunter, fisherman, gardener and chef. He was a founding member and firefighter with the Pojoaque Valley Volunteer Fire Department. He helped to organize the Pojoaque Valley Little League Program in 1963. He coached the Nambé Bears.
Public visitation and Rosary were on 2 Sep 2004 at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Nambé. Funeral Mass was on 3 Sep 2004 at the same church. Burial followed in the Santa Fe National Cemetery.
