Virgil L. Horning Virgil L. Horning, 73, of Spicewood, passed away on Saturday, May 23, 2009. He was born July 10, 1935, in Ransom, Kansas, to Albert and Louise Horning.

He married the love of his life Karen A. Kastens on August 19, 1961, in Kiowa, Kansas.

Virgil proudly served his country in the United States Army from 1955-1957. Virgil retired in Austin as an Account Manager from EDS in 1994 after 25 years of dedicated service. Virgil had a special love for the sport of golf. He also loved to travel especially to visit his children and grandchildren. He sang in the choir at Queen of Angels Catholic Church where he was a member.

Virgil is preceded in death by his parents and brother, Francis Horning.

Virgil is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Karen Horning; children, Michelle Smith, Denise Rainer and husband Mike, Kevin Horning and Andrea Horning; siblings, Edward Horning and wife Roberta, Don Horning, Mary Lou Durall and husband Ed, Rosanne Haberman and husband Don, Emily Horning and Reita Horning; grandchildren, Conrad, Jessica and Josephine Smith, Cameron and Kendall Rainer; and many other loving family members and friends.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 27, 2009, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., with recitation of the Holy Rosary at 7:00 p.m., at Cook-Walden Forest Oaks Funeral Home, 6300 W. William Cannon Dr., Austin, TX 78749. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, May 28, 2009, at 10:00 a.m., at Queen of Angels Chapel in Briarcliff on Siesta Shores, with interment to follow in the Haynie Flat Cemetery in Spicewood.
