Savannah was the daughter of Joseph and Caroline (Freeman) Bradshaw and was born on the family farm located near the town of Volga City, Sperry Township, Clayton County, Iowa on May 22, 1856. She had eleven brothers and sisters, all but one having been born in Clayton County. When Savannah was eighteen she married James Blanchard on December 12, 1874. They had three children: William Jay, Nora Loretta (died at age eight), and Stephen Laurence (born April 5, 1894). All three childrenw were born in Clayton County. Savannah and James lived in Clayton County until 1903 when they went to Union City, Pennsylvania. In 1906 they went to Yesler, Washington (now part of the city of Seattle), and in 1908 to Snohomish, Washington. About 1916 she went to Hopkins, Michigan to live with her oldest son, William. She returned to Seattle in November of 1930, then back to Michigan in June of 1932. Her husband James passed away on February 5, 1915. Savannah died in Michigan in April of 1933. It is assumed that her interment was at Hopkins, Allegan County, Michigan where her son was living; however, it has not been verified.
