Cyrus Albynus Campbell was the son of James Irish Campbell (1842-1911) and Florence Margaret Hassell (1851-1920). He was the grandson of Albert Gallatin Campbell and Sarah Pierce and the grandson of John Hassell and Mary Jane Moore. Cyrus was born in Anderson County, Texas, on March 24, 1874. On February 14, 1893, he married Anna J. Herod, daughter of Newton Starr Herod and Mary A. Murchison. Their children were:
