The Mountaineer, Big Sandy, MT, 1 May 1919
At a time when it was generally supposed the influenza situation was anything but serious in Big Sandy, the Grim Reaper has claimed still another victim from the epidemic which during the winter took such a heavy toll. Leland McDonald, son of Mrs. Francis H. McDonald living 12 miles north of town, passed away Sunday following a period of illness lasting only six days. Had the young man lived another day he would have arrived at his 22nd birthday.
Surviving relatives are his mother; sisters, Edith, Ethel, Eva and Icelene; and brothers, Guy, Frank, Dewey, and Charles, all residing on the west prairie.
