SHREVEPORT, LA – Services for Dr. Jesse R. Stamper, 90, Shreveport, will be held at 11:30 a.m., Tuesday, June 22, 1982, at Osborn Funeral Home, with burial in Forest Park Cemetery. Officiating will be Dr. William E. Hull, pastor of First Baptist Church. Osborn Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Dr. Stamper died at 2:10 a.m. Sunday, June 20, 1982, at his residence.
A native of Newton County, Mississippi, Dr. Stamper had lived in Shreveport since 1916. He was a retired physician and founder of Physicians & Surgeons Medical Center. He was a member of Shreveport Medical Society, Louisiana Medical Society, American Medical Association, American Urological Association, Tri-State Medical Society, American College of Surgeons, Southern Medical Association, The American Legion, 40 & 8 Club, 32nd Degree Mason, and El Karubah Shrine. He was a member of the First Baptist Church. Dr. Stamper received the Shreveport Medical Society's Distinguished Service Award on December 5, 1981.
Survivors are his widow, Mrs. Mary Yearwood Stamper, Shreveport; daughter, Mrs. Eleanor S. Waterman, Shreveport; son, Dr. Charles J. Stamper, Shreveport; four grandchildren, Bobbett Rambo, Johnette Waterman, James and Mary Stamper, all of Shreveport; brother G. M. Stamper, Shreveport and sister, Mrs. Irene Barfoot, Philadelphia, Mississippi.
The family requests memorials be made to the First Baptist Church, Shrine Hospital or charity of the donor's choice.
