Mrs. Mary Jane MacDougall Ackerman, 84, of Englewood Colorado., a former resident of Amsterdam, died Friday at Porter Hospital in Denver, Colo., after a short illness.
Born Aug. 15, 1914 in Amsterdam, the daughter of George and Emily Carpenter MacDougall. She resided in Amsterdam until 1960 when she moved to Long Island, then in 1976 she moved to Englewood.
Mrs. Ackerman was a homemaker. She was a member of the Englewood Malley Senior Citizen Center as well as the Englewood Bible Church in Englewood.
She was a former member of St. Luke's Evangelical church of Amsterdam.
She married Charles Ackerman on June 22, 1940. He died Aug 30 1989.
Mrs. Ackerman was predeceased by two sons, Leslie Ackerman and Peter Ackerman and a daughter Bertha Kissinger.
Survivors include four sons, Charles Ackerman of Englewood, James Ackerman of Delmar, Leonard Ackerman of Sullivan County, and George Ackerman of Colorado; a daughter, Mary Van Wart of Central Islip, a brother, Edwin MacDougall of Shreveport, La; 22 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral Services will be conducted at 11am. Friday at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral home Inc., 171 Guy Park Ave., Amsterdam, with the Rev. Janice Caiazzo officiating.
Interment will be in Pine Grove Cemetery, Tribes Hill.
Calling hours will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
