NEW BEDFORD — Lloyd Francis ALLEN [(1915-2010)], 95, of New Bedford, passed away on Saturday, October 2, 2010, after a period of declining health. He was the husband of the late Flore (LALIBERTE) ALLEN [(1917-1998)]; and son of the late Frank [(1894-1992)] and Elizabeth (FROST) ALLEN [(1896-1970)].
He was born in Taunton and lived most of his life in New Bedford. He was formerly employed by Stanley Petroleum for 34 years as a Tank Trailer Operator until his retirement.
He was a member of the Teamsters Union, Acushnet Jolly Seniors and the AARP. He traveled all over the country and enjoyed playing bingo.
Survivors include his two sons, James ALLEN [()] and his wife, Wanda, of WA and George ALLEN [(1939-)] of Acushnet; two grandchildren, Gary and Scott ALLEN; five great-grandchildren, Koryd, Garrett, Payton, Mackenzie and Camryn; his companion, Therese Ledoux of Acushnet; several nieces and nephews.
He was the father-in-law of the late Janice ALLEN [(1942-2001)] and brother of the late Roger ALLEN [(1920-1945)] and Rita WOODIS [(1923-2004)].
In lieu of flowers donations may be made in his memory to St. Jude's Children Hospital, 501 St. Jude's Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
Visitation will be Wednesday 5-8 PM at Rock Funeral Home. His Funeral will be from the Funeral Home on Thursday at 8 AM followed by his Funeral Mass at St. Francis Xavier Church at 9 AM. Interment Sacred Heart Cemetery.
