Walter Ostrenga, 97, went peacefully home to be with the Lord on Sunday evening, August 1, 2010 at his residence. He was born August 26, 1912 in Little Suamico to Michael and Louise (Kolodziej) Ostrenga.

As a young man he worked in the CC Camps in Northern Wisconsin where he learned about hard work and discipline. On July 4, 1936 he married Margaret Konitzer in Oconto Falls. Following their marriage the couple lived in Milwaukee for 36 years where Wally was employed at Allis Chalmers. His work projects included the Manhattan Project and the Hoover Dam while employed there. The couple retired to Kelly Lake in 1972 where they owned and operated a resort, Sunset Cottages, building the first cottage by themselves in 1948. Wally will be fondly remembered as a kind, compassionate and generous man whose door was always open and table ready at a moments notice to welcome family and friends. As a practical joker and joke teller, much laughter and fun was soon to follow.

Survivors are his four daughters, Jane, Marilyn, Judith,Peggy, 17 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren, 17 great-great grandchildren; four brothers, Frank (Mary) Ostrenger, NV; Martin Ostrenger, MT; Stanley, Raymond, all of Oconto Falls; one sister, Julie. Besides his parents he was also preceded in death by his wife, Margaret on December 9, 1996, one son, Jimmy on October 27, 1980, two sons-in-law, Howard and Fred, four brothers, John and Joseph Ostrenger, George and Edward Ostrenga and one sister, Louise Miller.
